The preparation of titanium carbonitride from Panzhihua Ti-bearing blast furnace slags which contains 20 %~26 % TiO2 is described.The process contains two main stages,which consists of reducing carbonization and nitriding of titanium oxide of slags,and iron as a carrier can realize the titanium carbonitride and the gangue mineral separation with the magnetic separation.The concentrate of Ti(C,N)is above 36.46 %,and the recovery of TiO2 is up to 43.77 %.
