The main reasons for nozzle blocking are analyzed through an investigation of plugged nozzle and morphology of accretion. The nozzle is prevented from blocking by means of argon blowing technique with tundish stopper.Industrial experiments show that the technology not only can efficiently prevent the nozzle blocking and increase the numbers of continuous casting heats of low carbon aluminium-killed steel, but also improve steel cleanliness.
