The polyester powder coating was modified with rutile nano-TiO2 as anti-aging additives. The properties and features of rutile nano-TiO2 were described by some indicating methods, such as TEM, XRD and so on. Water-suspend absorption UV-Vis spectrum of rutile nano-TiO2, anatase nano-TiO2 and rutile titanium white was studied. Polyester powder coating was degradated by accelerated aging test with high pressure mercury-arc lamp. The UV-shield mechanism of nano-TiO2 was discussed. The variation of color and gloss for polyester powder coatings was compared during the weathering test, which include polyester powder coating modified with rutile nano-TiO2 and polyester powder coating modified with UV absorbent. The results show that rutile nano-TiO2 can upgrade photostabilization functions of polyester powder coating, improve the weatherproof property of polyester powder coating, and prolong the service life of polyester powder coating.
