Based on cross breaks defect formation during uncoilling of hot strip of low carbon steel,the bending deformation,stress distribution,yield point elongation and strain aging of the hot strip during uncoilling and levelling were analyzed by use of the knowledge,such as elastic-plastic mechanics and metal science etc.It is believed that the bad flatness of the hot strip is not responsible for the cross breaks formation.The defect results from yield point elongation of the low carbon steel,thus providing a basis for solution of the cross breaks defect.
