Abstract: It is illustrated in this paper that additives with three different Ti concentrations to the M2 high speed steel have no influence on its steelmaking forging, and cutting properties. Titanium can refine the grain, and has a little contribution to the secondary hardenning and a trend to decrease the red hardness. However, it can improve the bending strength, deflection, impact toughness and abrasion resistance.
